Yoopers for a Week

We took a week off to go camping in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and it was fantastic! We spent three nights at Tahquamenon Falls in Paradise, MI. We enjoyed hiking and toured the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at Whitefish Point, and our campsite was close enough to the Lower Falls to hear the water while falling asleep. It was very relaxing, and one of our most enjoyable vacations.

Next, we visited Saute Ste. Marie to see the locks and the town; we also checked out Lake Superior State University there. There weren't any ships going through while we were there so we walked around the city and enjoyed Mooney's ice cream. Mmm.

Our last stop was to camp at Straits State Park in St. Ignace, and there our campsite was on a beach with a view of the Mackinac Bridge. Loved it! We took the ferry to Mackinac Island, where we walked the 8 mile shore drive to view the scenery. We finished the trip with lunch at the Pink Pony and of course, Murdick's Fudge.

Can't wait to go back to the UP - Pictured Rocks is next on the list!
